Quilting or Sewing of Choice: Creative Stitchery on my Bernina artista 730 -- this includes thread painting, highly embellished work using the decorative stitches on the sewing machine and beading by machine.
Your First Quilting Project: The first quilt I ever made was when I was 22 years old. I was taking a six week beginning quilt class and I made a baby quilt for a friend. It was hand appliquéd and quilted with additional hand embroidery on it.
Your Proudest Quilting Moment: When I received a copy of my first book, "Thread Painting Made Easy" published by the American Quilt Society. I've been driving to Paducah for the big AQS Quilt Show for over 20 years. As I would pass the AQS Publishing House I would think, "Someday, I'm walking through those doors with a book!”
I'm now working on my third book about embellishments for fiber art as well as fabric and appliqué designs. In between, I'm teaching my grandchildren how to garden.
Quote: "Live well with the people with whom you live; Love well the people whom you love; Have integrity in dealing with the people with whom you work; know that you have everything you need in your own two hands; this is a happy way to live."
Shameless Self promotion:
I am beyond happy about working with Coats & Clark. I have used their yarns and threads since I was a little girl. I still have the embroidered sampler I made as a young teenager. When I was offered the chance to design new designer Multi-Color threads for the New Star Cottons, I was over the moon.
I am a Bernina Artisan. I love that title. The decorative stitches are just beautiful plus the tension and thread delivery are perfect. The extra sweetness is I have absolutely no problems using any type of thread on this machine. It does whatever I want it to do. Stitch On!
