Star Shine Wall Hanging

Combining the brilliant sheen of Star “Shine” with fabrics washed in metallic sparkle creates an elegant wall hanging.

Supplies

  • Star “Lite”
  • Star “Shine”
  • Metalic prints-1/4 yd each of 2 different prints
  • Metallic solid- 1 yard
  • Batting
  • Backing fabric 1 yard

Cutting instructions:

From one of the metallic prints cut:
18 2 ½ “ squares

From metallic solid cut:
18 2 ½ “ squares
2 20 ½ ” x 2 1/2” strips
2 16 ½ ” x 2 ½ ” strips

From the second metallic print cut:
12 4 ½” x 1 ½” strips
4 16 ½ “ x 1 ½” strips
2 ½ yards 2 ½” strip for binding
Batting 25” square
Backing 25” square

Steps:
All seams are ¼ inch.

  1. Sew 9 4-patch squares using the print and solid squares as shown in photo.
  2. Sew the 4 ½ inch strips to the top and bottom of one 4-patch square. Sew a 4 patch square to the top and bottom 4 ½ “ strip. Sew a 4 ½ “ strip to each end creating a strip of 3 4-patch squares joined with 4 ½ “ strips. Create two more strips.
  3. Sew a 16 ½ “ strip of second print fabric to each side of one 4-patch strip. Sew remaining 4-patch strips to the left and right of this center strip. Sew a 16 ½ “ strip to the each side completing the center panel.
  4. Sew the 16 ½ “ strips of solid fabric to top and bottom of panel, sew the 20 ½ “ strip to the left and right.

Quilting:

  1. Place the backing fabric wrong side up on a flat surface. Place the batting on top of the baking. Place the completed quilt top on batting right side up.
  2. Baste unit together. Quilt as desired using Star “Shine”.Trim the edges of the backing, batting and top even.
  3. Bind with metallic print.
